Signal check
What changed—and what was not tested
The authors identified both shared and peptide-specific connectivity differences involving the right amygdala and temporal cortex. A connectivity difference does not establish better focus, anxiety treatment or equivalent effects from a Semax–Selank blend.
Functional Connectomic Approach to Studying Selank and Semax Effects. (2020)
- Measured signal
- Functional connectivity involving predefined amygdala and prefrontal regions.
- Design
- Acute resting-state functional-imaging comparison including Semax, Selank and placebo.
- Population or preparation
- 52 healthy participants across the study groups.
- Reported change
- The authors identified both shared and peptide-specific connectivity differences involving the right amygdala and temporal cortex.
- Inference boundary
- A connectivity difference does not establish better focus, anxiety treatment or equivalent effects from a Semax–Selank blend.
The experimental design
Acute resting-state functional-imaging comparison including Semax, Selank and placebo.
Who or what was studied
52 healthy participants across the study groups.
The measurement
Functional connectivity involving predefined amygdala and prefrontal regions. For a separate account of clinical memory-related observations and eeg monitoring, read Semax after hypoxic brain injury. For a separate account of visual-field measurements and retinal structural parameters after surgery, read Semax in a glaucoma-care package.
The reported finding
The authors identified both shared and peptide-specific connectivity differences involving the right amygdala and temporal cortex. The study compares named interventions. Combining the names into a commercial mixture creates an additional question that this comparison did not answer. A change involving an anxiety-related region is not itself a measured reduction in anxiety symptoms.
What the result cannot establish
A connectivity difference does not establish better focus, anxiety treatment or equivalent effects from a Semax–Selank blend. Ask whether a quoted source studied a single ingredient, a comparator or the actual mixture offered. Those are distinct evidence claims even when the same brain region appears in the discussion. The consultation checklist can help you ask which part of this experimental result matches the preparation and goal under discussion.
A related comparison
The earlier Semax default-mode-network guide reviews a different healthy-volunteer imaging study. Neither experiment should be relabeled as a validated productivity test.
